Jocelyn Vodovoz Schmidt, President

Jocelyn’s ballet training commenced at a very young age, laying a strong foundation for her journey. Along the way, she has honed her skills through training at various schools, enriching her experience and growth in the art form.

Jocelyn's career path began in the captivating world of ballet alongside Wayne Sleep of the Royal Ballet, where she embarked on a tour across the United Kingdom and London's esteemed West End. This early experience served as a stepping stone into the realm of musical theater, both in London and on the illustrious stages of Broadway.

Her theatrical repertoire boasts an array of iconic shows including Cats, Jesus Christ Superstar, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Witches of Eastwick, and Les Miserables, to name just a few. Not limiting herself to grand stages, Jocelyn has graced local productions with her presence, embodying lead roles in beloved musicals like Chicago, Cabaret, and Annie Get Your Gun.

Beyond her performances, Jocelyn has also demonstrated her passion for philanthropy through the creation and stellar performance in the fundraising event An Evening To Remember at the Performing Arts Center, in support of the Women's Crisis Support Team.

Since 2005, Jocelyn has been imparting her expertise in ballet and musical theater to the community of Grants Pass. Alongside her teaching endeavors, she has actively contributed as a valuable member of the creative team behind the annual production of The Nutcracker.

In addition to her artistic pursuits, Jocelyn is a licensed massage therapist since 2006, a NASM certified personal trainer, and holds certification in Progressing Ballet Technique. Renowned for her mastery in technique instruction, she is cherished by her students for her positive, energetic, and motivating teaching style. Jocelyn's multifaceted talents and unwavering dedication have made her a standout figure in both the performing arts and wellness communities.

Kimberly Awbrey, VP, Fusion

Kimberly, the dedicated Owner of Fusion Dance and Performing Arts since 2010, is a shining beacon in the world of performing arts. As the Founder of Fusion Dance Alliance, her passion for dance shines through in all her endeavors.

Honing her craft in the vibrant San Francisco Bay area, Kimberly has emerged as an esteemed dance teacher and choreographer. Her extensive experience includes collaborations with numerous schools and academies, where she has nurtured performance and competitive dance teams to success.

The impact of Kimberly's mentorship is evident through her students' remarkable achievements. Under her guidance, her students have clinched prestigious awards, titles, scholarships to renowned institutions and dance programs such as The Juilliard School, Northwestern University, University of AZ, and University of Utah. In a crowning moment she has students crowned as Miss Rogue Valley and Miss Oregon outstanding teen. in 2010.

Kimberly's influence in the dance community is truly remarkable, serving as an inspiration to all aspiring dancers and artists. Her dedication to her craft and her students' success truly sets her apart as a leader in the world of dance and performing arts.

Joanna Pitzak, Secretary/ Treasurer

Joanna is a highly accomplished individual with a rich educational background and extensive experience in teaching a wide range of students. She began her educational journey by studying dance and musical theater at Brigham Young University, setting a strong foundation for her passion for the arts.

Her academic pursuits led her to Iowa State University, where she graduated with a triple degree in Liberal Arts, with a focused study on English, Dance, and French. This diverse educational background equipped her with a broad knowledge base that she would later apply in her teaching career.

Joanna's teaching experience is just as impressive as her academic achievements. She has taught students ranging from 3 years old to adults, showcasing her ability to connect with individuals of all ages. Prior to settling in Grants Pass in 2002, she shared her expertise in Iowa and Ohio, honing her teaching skills in ballet, jazz, creative movement, and musical theatre.

For over a decade, Joanna has been an integral part of the local arts community in Grants Pass. Her role as a Choreographer and Musical Director for Grants Pass High School highlights her talent in guiding students towards artistic excellence. Furthermore, her musical prowess extends to piano, where she has led choirs for children, teenagers, and adults for an impressive 25 years.

Not only is Joanna a dedicated educator and artist, but she is also a loving mother of three. Her commitment to her family and her craft is a testament to her stellar work ethic and passion for nurturing young talents.

Joanna's vast experiences and unwavering dedication make her a valuable asset to the arts and education community. Her multifaceted talents and genuine love for teaching shine through in all aspects of her work, enriching the lives of those she encounters.

Carrie Bernhart, VP, Secretary/ Treasurer

Carrie's community involvement spans over 15 years, focusing on supporting students and the arts in Grants Pass. She has actively contributed to various PTA organizations, including Highland and North, as well as dedicated her time to Parent Advisory and school Site Councils. Notably, Carrie played a pivotal role on the Macy’s Fundraising Committee from 2017 to 2018, facilitating a successful fundraising campaign to enable 250 students to participate in the iconic Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City.

Moreover, Carrie's commitment to the community is exemplified by her co-chairmanship of the Pride of the Northwest Marching Band Competition, the largest fundraiser for the GPHS Marching Band, for the past three years. Her involvement with the One Eleven Theatre Company and sponsorship of numerous local theatre and benefit productions reflect her ardent support for the arts.

Beyond her contributions to the arts and education, Carrie serves on the Josephine County Citizens Review Board, diligently reviewing cases of local children in Foster Care. Her enthusiasm for embarking on this new endeavor underscores her dedication to creating enriching opportunities and experiences for the youth and families in Grants Pass.

Jennifer Bohn

Jennifer managed Fusion Dance Academy from 2015 to 2021. Today, she is manager of the talented Fusion Force Dance Team.

As a founding member of Fusion Performing Arts Alliance, Jennifer is dedicated to supporting youth in the arts and the community through the organizations she serves.

Jennifer has worked as an educational assistant at Central Point School District since 2011, showing her strong commitment to education. She is originally from Southern Oregon and is a graduate of North Medford High School and attended SOU.

Currently residing in Central Point, Jennifer is a proud wife, and mother to two daughters. Jennifer's introduction to the dance world came through her daughter's passion for dance at the young age of 5. She is proud to watch her daughter’s love of dance continue to grow as she has gone from student, to an instructor and choreographer for Fusion Dance Academy.

Irvin Vodovoz, VP, Business Affairs

Irvin is a retired career employee from the Federal Aviation Administration, with a specialized background in air traffic control. Beyond his federal service, he shared his expertise as a consultant for Raytheon in the aerospace and defense industry.

In his local community, Irvin has worn many hats. He served as an insurance sales professional for AFLAC, helping individuals and families secure their financial futures. Additionally, his commitment to the arts is showcased through his remarkable 28-year tenure as a board member of the San Pedro City Ballet, a cherished non-profit organization in California.

Irvin's dedication to service extends to a national level as well. For 15 years, he has fulfilled a crucial role as a board officer for the National Association of Active and Retired Federal Employees (NAARFE), advocating for the rights and well-being of his fellow members.

With a career marked by public service, a passion for the arts, and a commitment to community engagement, Irvin exemplifies the impact one individual can have on multiple spheres of society.
